To utilize existing zones for route completion reporting, here are the steps that need to be followed in the specified order:

  2. Add the SampleRoute group to the assigned vehicles.
  3. If group filters are used to limit access for MyGeotab users, add the SampleRoute group to the assigned users. *Caution, if the user is currently in the company group, do not add the SampleRoute group.
  4. Download the ZIP file to your computer by clicking here.
  5. Import the file into route completion (Administration -> System -> System Settings -> Route Completion).
  6. Press "Drop your file here."
  7. Import the COMPLETE ZIP file you just downloaded to your computer.

*This procedure will create the basic infrastructure for the end of route report. *All names in bold below may be changed later.

Once the ZIP file is imported, this procedure creates:

  1. A group structure under the SampleRoute group. This two-level group structure will be used for the route completion report.
  2. In the Rules and Groups section -> Rule -> the materials management category will be created.
  3. This assigns the materials management rule category to the SampleRoute group, and a rule named SampleRoute Service Rule will be created.Capture d’écran, le 2024-04-15 à 15.29.16
  4. A zone type named SampleRoute Segment will be created, and 4 fictional zones named SampleSegment1 to SampleSegment4 are created and associated with the SampleRoute Segment zone type, in addition to being assigned to the SampleRoute group.Capture d’écran, le 2024-04-15 à 15.48.45
  5. Rename the names of existing groups to your preferred name.
    • Example: Replace SampleRoute with Public Works.
    • Example: Replace SampleSegment1 with the region name (Region 2 or Montreal, etc.)
    • You can add other subgroups under SampleRoute, for example, each Segment (Region 2 in the example), snow removal types (Snow Removal, Pickup, Plow, Grader, etc.)Capture d’écran, le 2024-04-15 à 15.53.17
  6. Delete the 4 zones named SampleSegment1, 2, 3, and 4 created under the SampleRoute Segment zone type as they are fictional zones.
  7. Associate your existing zones or create new zones and add the SampleRoute Segment zone type.
    • You can modify multiple zones simultaneously with the multiple-choice option (see article here).
    • Save changes.
  8. Associate zones with the subgroup if required (e.g., Snow Removal or Pickup).
  9. Rename the zone type to your preferred name.
    • Zones and Messages > Zones > Types > Select SampleRoute Segment
    • Rename the name of the zone type to that of your choice (example public works or snow removal)

Once the process is followed, the Route Completion tab will be added to the Map tab.

You should be able to run the completion report for the SampleRoute Service Rule or the name of your choice. If you wish to view historical data, you can select the SampleRoute service rule, vehicles, and start date to reprocess the data. The default number of passes is 1 for the created zone.
