Should the defect list be in the vehicle? Yes!

The defect list is mandatory and must always be in the vehicle when a driver performs their Safety Check.

The operator must:

• place the applicable defect list in each heavy vehicle under their responsibility
• ensure that the driver keeps it on board.

The driver must:

• ensure that the applicable defect list for the heavy vehicle under their responsibility is on board the vehicle and remains there;
• provide it to any peace officer upon request.
