Vehicle : Configuration of a vehicle

• VIN
• Odometer

 

When installing a Geotab device in a new vehicle, it is important to configure the vehicle. The following information must be added to the vehicle in order to comply with the regulations.  
 
Several parameters can be configured such as device information, additional parameters, active location, HOS, sleeper, automatic management, etc. 
 
From the main menu, select the Vehicles and Assets tab and select the device to modify.

Device information

1. Description: Enter the unit number or vehicle name
2. Vehicle Identification Number (VIN): ensure that the serial number is entered and valid
3. License plate: Add the license plate
4. Odometer: Confirm odometer or change value if necessary (at time of installation only)
5. Current Engine Hours: Confirm value or change value if necessary
6. State/Province: Add the state/province of the vehicle registration
7. Save changes

 Additional details

To configure additional details of a vehicle, just press the "Settings" tab then "Advanced"

Localisation active (Active tracking) : 

• In order to track vehicles on the map in real time, it is important to activate Active Tracking. 
  This feature is only available on the ProPlus plan. 
  A device on the PRO plan will be automatically switched to ProPlus.
  
  ⚠ Attention: Deactivating the option will not automatically switch the plan to Pro. You must contact us.
  
  
• Active location and direct alerts to the driver from the server: Switch to Act. (activate) and validate the warning message.

Heures de service (HOS) : 

• OFF: The system will not generate movements automatically. 
  A driver will not be able to logbook if the HOS is OFF
• ON: The system will generate movements automatically. 
  If no driver is connected, the movements will automatically be in unassigned movements that must be processed by an administrator.
  
  
• Automatic: Default setting. When a driver connects to a vehicle, the system changes the setting to ON automatically.

Sleepter berth equipped

• ON: Allows the driver to select the SB status in his Geotab Drive application to count the hours spent in the sleeper compartment. 
  
  OFF: The driver does not have access to select the SB. Prevents status errors for vehicles that do not have a sleeper.

Automatic vehicle management 

To make sure that the vehicle information is kept, if you forget to archive a modem when you disconnect, activate the automatic vehicle management.
