Description: 14-pin connector harness. It is used for all vehicles equipped with a diagnostic socket type RP1226.

What is a RP1226 connector ?
The RP1226 is a standardized 14-pin connector that allows third parties to access on-board data on heavy vehicles. It is primarily used for fleet management and electronic logging device (ELD) management.

It is important to note that the RP1226 connector is not implemented in the same way by all original equipment manufacturers (OEMs). While the goal of the connector is standardization across vehicles, it has not yet been achieved.

Everything there is to know about the RP1226 connector
There are a few key facts about the RP1226 that every fleet manager should know before purchasing a heavy duty vehicle.

Connector location.

Some vehicles have them in the driver's footwall, while others store them in the center console.

It is important to know where the ports are located on each vehicle for installation.

Data limitations.

Not all manufacturers implement the same level of data access via the RP1226.

It is important to know what data you want to receive and also understand what data you can access before purchasing a specific make or model.

Using the right harness

Harnesses are not a one-size-fits-all solution, so it is crucial to choose the harness specific to the cable you are using.
Heavy trucks should always use a vehicle-specific harness when offered by Geotab or the vehicle manufacturer.

This not only protects your device, but also the accuracy of the data it transmits. To ensure that you have the right harness for your heavy vehicle and device, you can refer to Geotab's Harness Evaluation Checklist.

Where is the RP1226 port ?
Connector location varies by manufacturer. Your vehicle may not be equipped with an RP1226 connector. This is a reference guide and not an official location.

The plug may be hidden behind jumper wires.
If the RP1226 port is hidden, remove the red insert. Plug the CS14S21 harness into the RP1226 port and the OBDII tip into the Geotab modem. Turn on the vehicle ignition and secure the modem.

Installation

In some situations, the vehicle may be powered by PIN 1. To enable this, please follow these instructions when installing the harness:

1. Install the harness and verify that the telematics device can be powered on.
2. If yes, the installation is complete.
3. If not, check which PIN provides power - PIN 1 or PIN 14.
4. If the power is on PIN 14 and the device still does not turn on, contact Geotab support.
5. If the power is on PIN 1, move the PIN on the connector from PIN 14 to PIN 1.

NOTE: This harness is only compatible with telematics devices with a Geotab device firmware version of X.23.XX or later.
