Recommendations for manual odometers

  • MyGeotab retroactively corrects archived odometer readings based on the most recently entered value (whether saved manually or automatically). This most recent value is always considered correct and replaces all previous entries or corrections.
  • Incorrectly entered information can result in inaccurate reports, for example:
    • Copying or incorrectly entering an odometer value can produce negative archived trip values.
  • When a firmware update to a telematics device introduces automated mileage tracking for a vehicle whose odometer values were entered manually, but incorrectly, it can produce a jump in value.
  • If a device is moved from one vehicle to another, but the old vehicle was not marked as "archived", the odometer readings from several vehicles are combined. This could result in sudden jumps or negative past trips.
