1- Data Diagnostics vs. Failures

There are 2 types of notifications that can be displayed to the driver.

A) Data Diagnostics

  • Identified by a yellow-colored banner
  • Automatically clears once the issue is resolved
  • Does not prevent the use of DCE

B) Failures

  • Identified by a red-colored banner
  • Must be cleared by a user (driver)
  • DCE cannot be used in compliance
  • The driver must ensure to follow the procedure to comply with regulations

2- Display

The display of diagnostics and failures occurs in the Geotab Drive application when the driver is associated with the vehicle experiencing the issue.

The driver must consult the driver instruction sheet describing the measures to be taken in case of DCE failure, which must be present in the vehicle to comply with regulations.

**Note** If you have provided the user manual designed by AttriX, these sheets are located at the end of it in both French and English versions.

A) Diagnostics

  1. Unidentified driving diagnostics
    1. Diagnostic data for unidentified driving reports
    2. Indicates that unidentified driving movements have been detected at the specified date and time.
  2. Power diagnostic
    1. Power data diagnostics
    2. Indicates that the device is not powered and fully functional within one minute of the vehicle's engine starting, and it does not remain powered while the vehicle's engine is running. (Example: intermittent connection with the vehicle's engine)
  3. Engine synchronization data diagnostic
    1. Engine synchronization data diagnostics
    2. Indicates that the DCE does not have access to all required engine data 5 seconds after the request, but the issue is intermittent.

B) Failures

  1. Engine sync malfunction
    1. Engine synchronization failure
    2. Indicates that the DCE has lost access to certain engine data for a period of more than 30 minutes of driving within 24 hours.
